The Ethereum Foundation completed its massive 70,000 ETH staking target by depositing approximately $93 million worth of ether on April 3rd, bringing its total staked position to roughly $143 million. This strategic shift moves the foundation from regularly selling ETH to fund its $100 million annual expenses toward earning staking yield of $3.9-5.4 million annually instead, creating a more sustainable treasury model.

The foundation staked 45,034 ETH in uniform chunks through multiple transactions to the Beacon Chain deposit contract, with each batch worth approximately $4.23 million. Despite this new staking program, the foundation still maintains over 100,000 ETH unstaked in reserves and hasn't indicated whether it will expand staking beyond the initial commitment.
